Privacy Policy
Everything stays on your computer.
Pulse - Digital Wellbeing PC (“Pulse”, “the app”) is a privacy-first Windows application. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, no analytics and no telemetry. The developer never receives, sees or has access to any of your data. Here is exactly what the app handles.
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Your data lives here
%LocalAppData%\Pulse\
A local SQLite database in your Windows user profile. The same place for both the GitHub and Microsoft Store builds.
What Pulse tracks, and what it never touches
Tracked, only on your PC
- Screen time
- Active vs. idle time, worked out from mouse and keyboard activity.
- App usage
- Which application window is in the foreground and for how long: process name, executable path and a friendly display name.
- Audio exposure
- The system’s audio output peak level, used only to warn you about prolonged loud listening.
- Website usage (opt-in, off by default)
- Only if you turn on “Track websites by hostname” in Settings. Pulse reads the address bar of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi and Firefox windows through Windows UI Automation to log which site was in the foreground and for how long. Only the bare hostname (for example youtube.com) is stored. The full URL, path, query string, page title and page content are read in memory for that moment and never written to disk.
- Your settings
- Focus sessions, goals, break history and the settings you configure.
Pulse never
- Records or listens to audio. Pulse never captures audio and never accesses your microphone.
- Sends your data anywhere. Not to the developer, not to any third party.
- Asks for an account. There is nothing to sign in to.
- Shares or sells data. No data leaves your device, so there is nothing to share, sell or disclose.
- Runs analytics or telemetry. None, of any kind.
The only time Pulse goes online
GitHub build
A periodic check to the public GitHub Releases API to see whether a newer version is available. This sends only a standard HTTP request for release metadata and contains none of your usage data.
Microsoft Store build
Performs no update check of its own. Updates are delivered by the Microsoft Store.
You stay in control
Export
Settings → export screen time, app usage and sound data to CSV.
Delete
Settings lets you delete all stored data, or (in v2.2+) a specific date range.
Uninstall
Uninstalling does not remove %LocalAppData%\Pulse\. Delete your data in Settings first, or remove that folder, to erase everything.
Children
Pulse is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect data from anyone. All data is local and under the device owner’s control.
Changes to this policy
Any changes are published in this policy and in the project repository and, for Microsoft Store users, at the listing’s privacy policy link.
